Meet the Trustees

These guys below have been doing a great job on our Board of Trustees in recent years, and would really like the support of some fresh faces and complementary skills.

If you’re not familiar with the role, trustees are the people who serve on the governing body of a charity. They take ultimate responsibility for directing its affairs, and ensuring that it is solvent, well-run, and delivers the specific charitable outcomes for which it has been set up.

Is this something you can help us with? If so, check out further details on the volunteers and downloads pages, or give Anne-Marie a ring on 01621 815260.

Fr Gordon Read
Parish Priest

Anne-Marie Renshaw
Chair of Trustees

I am a native of Leigh-on-Sea and was ordained priest in 1976. Since then I have gradually moved up the A12, serving as assistant priest in Wanstead and Barkingside and parish priest at Ingatestone before being appointed to Kelvedon in 2000. Kelvedon catholic parish extends from the outskirts of Earls Colne to Tollesbury and we have three churches, in Kelvedon, Coggeshall and Tiptree. I live next to the main church in Kelvedon.
Churches Together in Coggeshall felt there was a growing problem with young people hanging about on street corners and with little to do locally. Under the inspirational guidance of Fr Philip Banks of St Peter’s we formed Coggeshall Prentice Youthwork Trust in 2006 with the intention of funding a fulltime youth worker with financial and other hands on support from the three Churches and local community.
It was clear that a similar challenge existed in Tiptree and in 2011 it was agreed to start a similar venture drawing on the model and experience at Coggeshall. Our intention was that TYPO would be an offering to the local community from the Christian Churches in Tiptree alongside other community youth clubs and uniformed organisations, open to all but from a faith perspective. I have been a Trustee representing the local Catholic community from the outset.

Jonathan Greenwood
Parish Councillor

Pat Southwood
Lay Representative

Pat was born and grew up in South Wales moving to Essex to further her career. She qualified as an accountant at a time when accountancy was very much a male dominated profession.  Consequently she has always understood the importance of education and equal opportunities for women and girls. Throughout her adult life she has been involved on a voluntary basis in activities for young people and children. These have been predominantly church based but have also included secular activities such as working in schools on the Young Enterprise  project.  As a result of this involvement she is very aware of the challenges that face young people today. Her four grand-daughters keep her up to date on the things that are important to young people . She got involved with TYPO because she was aware of the issues facing the younger generation living in a transitioning community like Tiptree and knew how valuable the work of TYPO is in the local community.

Jonathan moved to Tiptree from Colchester with his wife Sarah in 1997. They already had two children and the third was born two weeks later. All three have now moved away to far flung places. They are all married and there are 6 grandchildren so far and a seventh due in 2024. For many years Jonathan taught Biology at Colchester Sixth Form Collage and was the pastor of Kingsland Church, Tiptree for 17 years. In these roles he has encountered the lostness, fear and anxiety that grips so many young people. He supports the work of TYPO because he longs to see young people find hope, a future and their place in today’s church through an encounter with Jesus. He currently serves as the chairman of Tiptree Parish Council. He remains committed to seeing the churches in Tiptree thrive and his passion is to get to know Jesus better.

I have helped with youth work for over 50 years, being an officer and Captain in the Boy's Brigade for some 45 years, and ran the CITY group for some 3 years, continuing to help on an ad-hoc basis, and now also as a Trustee for TYPO.
I have also been a Christian and member of the United Reformed Church for over 50 years, 20 years of which I have served as an Elder, and presently continue to be an Elder.
I retired last year as a Chartered Civil Engineer, working in Business Development for the last 8 years.
I am in my seventies, married with 4 grown up children, and blessed with 4 Grandchildren, so far!
I have just started as a Police Chaplain, which I feel is a real worthwhile help for the Community.
