Tiptree Youth Project Outreach (TYPO) is a Christian charity based in Tiptree in Essex. We offer a forum where young people can feel safe, have fun, get active, explore ideas and make friends.
We set up in 2011 as a collaboration of local churches, because we are concerned for the young people of Tiptree and surrounding areas. The village has been growing rapidly over the last few years and continues to do so, with more and more families moving into the area. But there hasn’t been a parallel development in resources for young people. There’s not a lot for them do, and the brighter lights of Colchester and Chelmsford are difficult to get to when you don’t yet drive. Our aim is to try and fill the gap.
We are in a period of transition at present. We have been really sad to say goodbye to our youth worker, who got married last year and went to live in Canada. So we are now looking to recruit a new person to build on the foundation he laid and put TYPO firmly back on the Tiptree map. If you have a heart for young people and are interested in joining us (or if you know anyone who might be) there will be an application pack available soon. Visit this site to keep an eye out for it.
We continue to run our weekly Friday night forum for young people CITY (Churches in Tiptree Youth), which is now led by volunteers and has grown rapidly over the last year. Any young person aged 9 – 18 is welcome. You can find out more on the CITY Group page.
